We partnered with the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee (UW-Milwaukee) to build their new chemistry building. The 163,400-square-foot-building will serve as a gateway to the STEM buildings and departments that house those subjects – science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. It will include space for the nearly 5,000 UWM students who take chemistry and biochemistry classes each year.
Figures from a 2022 American Chemistry Council fact sheet show that chemistry industry jobs generated over $1 billion in payroll across Wisconsin and $151 million and state and local tax revenue. The chemicals industry is the seventh largest manufacturing industry in the state, providing 14,592 direct jobs and another 20,514 related jobs. In addition, generating 33,234 jobs in plastics and rubber products. The new building will help UW-Milwaukee attract, retain, and teach the next generation of scientists as well as increase the talent pipeline within Milwaukee.
