LOCATION
Waukegan, Illinois
SIZE
64,000 square feet
PROJECT SCOPE
This project involved renovating four 16,000-square-foot hangars to accommodate a fleet upgrade with wider aircraft wingspans.
Work included widening each hangar opening, replacing doors, modifying fascia and support framing, and installing new insulation systems. Electrical engineers played a key role in power and control system coordination. Hangar A’s doors were rolled into an external door pocket, while Hangar B required the removal of a dividing wall and an L-shaped rolling door pocket. Hangars D and E were retrofitted with vertical lift Megadoors, requiring structural roof modifications to support the added weight.
